The Day I went To The Gym In Fenway!!
May 23, 2013 By Tracy Leave a Comment
I have to talk about this amazing event I went to last weekend hosted by Equinox ..in Fenway Park!
This Gym is really out there when it comes to Gyms in Boston…its so out there that it took over Fenway Park one morning for an allstar workout.
We all met at Gate E and picked out shirts for this “Monsta Workout”. How Exciting!
They really did take over the entire park..check out the John Hancock screen.
We all sat out in the Sun while we were waiting to get warmed up. I was little worried about what was about to happen…would we be running up the steps? doing on the field? I know Equinox classes are tough and any type of exercise in the heat is tough.
We made our way up the bleachers to begin the workout. I have to say the view was pretty amazing. I felt very lucky to be working out in such a cool location. The last time I was in Fenway I had a beer in my hand…not today.
We got into groups and let the MONSTA WORKOUT begin..
The workout was laid out like a circuit around the park. Every station was manned by one of Equinox trainers. Each station gave us small snippet of a typical equinox class so It was fun to see what was coming next all the time.
Everything from Rope work..
To rowing…
To medicine ball work..
To burpees…to pressups…to tabata…to situps…to stair climbing …to lunges. It was definitely a tough workout. The trainers were all so encouraging though and I can honestly say I enjoyed every station because of the banter between the trainers. I think taking those type of classes of a regular basis with trainers that are so motivating, and funny would whip anybody into shape. I think everyone there was there for the same reason…they love to workout.
Afterwards I felt pretty amazing..not going to lie. How often do you get do this type of thing..not very often!
After our workout we got yogurt, fruit, drinks, granola bars and water ..which is just what I needed. I loaded up on fruit smoothies and took a granola bar for the road.
Equinox
I have taken two classes at Equinox before thanks to the blog. I took a great pilates class with Jennifer Phelan and an amazing yoga class with OmGal (Read here).
Equinox is definitely the top dog when it comes to Gyms in Boston. What makes them different from other gyms is their sought after group fitness instructors, personal trainers, strength and cardio equipment and experts in wellness. They also go to extra lengths to ensure this is no ordinary gym by providing all Kiehls products, eucalyptus towels and many other finer details.
You can read about the classes they offer here –> Equinox
They have three locations in Boston: Chesnut Hill, Dartmouth Street, Franklin Street.
Thanks to Amy, JP, and Equinox for such a great morning!
